Our client is disrupting the engineering and industrial automation industry and off the back of a series of highly lucrative contracts seeking to add to its leadership team in the form of a VP of Operations.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our strategic vision; rewriting the rules of manufacturing automation, and redefining the relationship between clients and engineering firms.

As the Vice President of Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing a highly talented team of automation engineers, mechanical engineers, project managers, CNC machinists, and electricians.

They employ a holistic, kaizen-inspired approach, combining Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, and Industrial Engineering expertise with Lean Manufacturing methodologies. This enables them to guide clients through the design and implementation of automation solutions that deliver significant reductions in COGM (Cost of Goods Manufactured) and provide clear automation roadmaps with impressive ROI within two years.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for the engineering and operations functions, aligning them with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Oversee and optimize all aspects of engineering operations, including fabrication, fusion 3D and CAD, and PLC technologies.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project managers, engineers, and other professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive the implementation of lean manufacturing methodologies, including kaizen and Lean Six Sigma (LSS), to improve operational efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance quality.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and finance, to ensure effective project execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage CAPEX projects, from concept to completion, including full-line design for factories, ensuring adherence to budgets, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Identify and implement best practices in engineering operations, utilizing the latest industry trends, technologies, and tools.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, vendors, and customers, to drive collaboration and strategic partnerships.
  • Monitor and analyze operational performance metrics, providing regular reports and recommendations to senior management for process improvement and optimization.
  • Stay abreast of industry developments and advancements in engineering and industrial automation, leveraging this knowledge to drive innovation and competitive advantage.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven track record of at least 10 years in a senior leadership role within the engineering and industrial automation industry, with experience in fabrication, fusion 3D and CAD, and PLC technologies.
  • Strong people leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, mentor, and develop a diverse team of professionals, including project managers and engineers.
  • Demonstrated expertise in lean manufacturing methodologies, including kaizen and Lean Six Sigma (LSS).
  • Experience in handling CAPEX projects, including full line design for factories, and delivering them on time and within budget.
  • Solid understanding of engineering principles and industrial automation processes, with the ability to apply them in practical business scenarios.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven ability to drive change, lead process improvements, and implement best practices.
  • Strong business acumen, with a strategic mindset and the ability to align operational initiatives with overall company goals.
